Yellow Envelope Mail-out Keep the Wheels Turning
Dare to Care Campaign
The operation of the Para Transit Care Coach relies totally on local fundraising; your financial support may be one of the main reasons the Para Transit Care Coach will continue to provide for the residents of Arnprior and the Township of McNab/Braeside.
Since February 4, 2008, 18,426 trips (which included 12,140 wheelchair, 6,286 ambulatory clients of which 3058 were out of town) have been provided to our citizens, no matter the age, who required ABMSH’s specialized transportation service.
Your Care Coach provides a VITAL service while maintaining independence for those who may not be able to leave their homes in comfort or in a secure manner. Independence is maintained; a human right for all.
“We are very pleased and grateful for the very excellent service provided by the Para Transit Care Coach and the dependable and caring attitude of drivers Colin (Borshevsky) and Wayne (Peirard)”, writes Morris Hall and his mother, Dorothy Hall who calls the Arnprior Villa home.
“My mother is 99 years old and uses a wheel chair for ease of getting around. The service of the Care Coach allows her to get to medical appointments and be able to join the family for social and family gatherings as she finds it less tiring to be able to stay in her own chair and be transported in and out of the Care Coach,” expressed a thankful son, Morris Hall. “All staff at ABMSH goes above and beyond to make mother’s trips as pleasant and stress free as possible”.
The goal for 2017 is $30,000, which represents the amount only required to cover the driver wages.
The total cost to operate our Para Transit Care Coach is as follows:
- Wages: $30,000
- Fuel: $4,300
- Insurance: $1,284
- Licence: $82
- Communications: $1,500; and
- Maintenance: $3,000.
Your continued generosity is imperative to make sure this essential service remains active and viable in our community.
“As we launch our 2017 Yellow Envelope Mail-Out, I would like to thank everyone for the donations received over the past nine years. Your continued generosity is a must to make sure this essential service remains active and viable in our community. Each one of us is only one surgery or one accident away from the possibility of requiring the use of this service” said Dennis Harrington, Executive Director, ABMSH.
